[Minimizing journal use would seem to be a necessity this time... I'll have to be quick.]

[Before the following filter is thrown up, a few flashes of thought are visible. They show a man with a very long white beard, one which puts even Tellah's to shame, talking calmly about something that can't really be made out. The last members of the FF IV party will recognize him as FuSoYa.]

Might I speak with you three for a moment? [I hope they're all amenable to my suggestion...]

FuSoYa...? What has happened to him? I doubt even the Malnosso could be this powerful enough to lure him here.

They haven't taken him. As far as I know, he's still on the moon.

Ah, I see...

Cecil told me of his adventure to the moon, he spoke of a man fitting the description that appeared upon the pages. It's him, the man of the moon, leader of the Lunarians.

It's either him or Tellah in even older years.

You recognize someone very easily from nothing but a description.

The sage no longer has the opportunity to reach such years. [The thought cuts off there.]

[He actually paused for a moment since Golbez's last train of thought was exactly the reason why he assumed that long-bearded man to be the Lunarian sage, and not Tellah. It was a sad truth, one that Edward still struggles to comprehend with even now.]

...Think not of the past.

Much as I'd like to follow that advice, I must think of the past, lest I end up repeating it.

A noble lie that is. You're merely punishing yourself. While I cannot lie and claim fondness for you, I certainly don't approve of you constantly musing of deeds that weren't your own.

You take Cecil's view of the matter too literally. As I told him, there was evil in me long before Zemus grasped hold. It was not that madman that had me leave my infant brother at the edge of the woods, more than likely to die.

[An image of baby Cecil, left in a basket underneath a tree as his older brother flees like a coward, flashes through his mind.]

There's a smidgen of evil that exists within all of us though. Zemus had no right to nurture that side of you, he merely fed the wickedness that existed in hopes of using you. While your hands are tainted, I know better than to label you as terribly as I do Zemus.

Hnnn... Your whole lot continues to surprise me, save Kain and Tellah.

Oh? I do hope this surprise is good thing...

Although, forgive Tellah for his antics thus far. The old sage truly believes you to be a threat even here within this land.

In time, such notions won't always be the same. Give him time, he'll realize soon enough.

There's nothing to forgive. He's more than deserving to feel as he does about me.

Indeed, he does have the right to feel hatred, but is now really the time for such? I think not.

We have more pressing matters to worry about than the stories of a war torn past.

Hmmm? Oh, you mean FuSoYa? Did your parents tell you of him?

(There's some unhappy images of Ceodore getting his arse whipped by Kain, and a very clear one of the ground swallowing him up whole.)

Does everyone know? [Unhappy and embarrassed tone.] Uh, yeah, i-if it's okay. I don't want (to keep seeing everyone's thoughts) to be in the way.

Oh yes, they did! (Happier image this time. A child Ceodore sitting on Rosa's lap by a fireplace and Cecil talking to them.)

[In response, Golbez deliberately crafts a mental image of Ceodore dancing atop a fallen Kain (with his butt sticking up in the air for extra humiliaion), and himself standing nearby nodding approvingly.]

Yes and no. Some of his attacks on you were partly transmitted by the journals, since they started near them, but I don't know how any of them ended. And of course it's okay. I'd be most pleased to have you around.

Well, that's what he looks like. [Golbez smiles at the image, shown by his own one of a generic happy face.]

[That victorious image sets off a chuckle and makes Ceodore smile.]

He really hates me. (I don't know what to think about him. *image of him yanking a mature, motherly Rosa away from a dead Cecil-which he fears is happening at home*)

If you're sure. I'd like to know more about you. And FuSoYa too.

He hates what you represent more than anything. His anger is misplaced.

What I... represent? [Sorry Uncle, kid inherited his dad's perception skills. He caught that thought about the moon and immediately his own thoughts go to the sky with two moons visible.]

[Teenager's thoughts become a sudden and panicked blend of words and imagery. And large RED X's. Clearly the idea of Kain wanting his Mother squicks him out, and it's written all over the page in big jumbled print.]

... My apologies. That wasn't something you needed to know about.

Regrettably, yes. Though hopefully fading.

[There's a prolonged silence and only snippets of his thoughts come across, although broadly featured in graphical detail is two scenarios. Both involve Kain dragging his mother away with Cecil lying dead on the floor of the castle. One has Ceodore arriving too late and the other has him standing there helpless to stop it.]

Do... do you think he would kill Father over it?

[Golbez bristles at the sight, fists clenching and eyes narrowing.]

There was a time when he would have. I merely hope it is over.

Edward told us that Kain said he planned to kill Father. We were leaving Damcyan, and then I was here. [No thoughts, just a heavy sigh.]

I grew up hearing all these stories about how brave and noble he was. I watched Father stand by the window waiting for him to return. Everyone in Baron misses him. Yet...

I'm confused. He's nothing like the man I was told about. I don't know what to think anymore. [Last statement turns from uncertain in tone to firmly resolved.] But I won't let him harm my family.

Hnnn... I know that after the battle was over, he retreated to Mount Ordeals to attempt to purge himself of the taint on his soul that had allowed him to be taken over.

Perhaps there was a backlash of some sort, and Kain as you know him is no longer wholly himself.

[Ceodore's inherited his father's overly trusting nature and it exhibits far too much in his thoughts.]

(Of course. What he says is reasonable. Then it would be wrong of me to continue to harbor these doubts. Dishonorable to question a man facing something beyond his control. I will put this aside. I am shamed by my own distrust. I will have to render my apologies and take whatever penance is deemed necessary.)

That's very wise.

This does not, however, mean that you should let your guard down. He might not mean to be malevolent, but he's still unstable and dangerous, especially to you. You have to be vigilant, but not accusatory. Do you understand?

... Also, guarding your thoughts might be helpful. I'll try to teach you a bit on that matter.

FuSoYa? Well... [The mental image returns.] Think of Tellah, but even older, calmer, seemingly unaffected by such things as anger or frustration. There's an otherworldly feel to him as well.

I'd like to meet him someday.

I agree, but I think me coming into your home at the current time would be an even worse idea due to at least two reasons. [As if it wasn't blatantly obvious already what he meant by that, an enrage Kain and Tellah appear briefly above his head.]

I'll keep this brief, Cecil. I'd like to take in Ceodore for a few days. Things seem a little tense over there, and to be honest, I think it would be for the best if he was away from things for a time.

....If you think it best.

It will only be for the duration of the experiment. He seems accepting of the idea.
