Before you make a decision on the offer, consider carefully just what they've written.

Aside from the sheer unlikeliness of them allowing us to depart, note that they claim that while we are here, our homeworlds are waiting for us, that our presence is being missed and our continued existence here will cause troubles back home.

To those who have others from their homeworlds here, particularly ones who arrived in Luceti much earlier or later than yourselves, don't you find that claim... strange?

That last point is what I was referring to. How can our presence be missed if events, including the ones we are involved in, seem to have gone the same way?

Yes, I do find it strange. Someone who recently arrived from my world had no idea that I was gone for over a year and a half. He said he'd seen me six months ago.

It is a little odd but, what I was thinking is that... if I were to return, what exactly would I be returning to? I'm dead after all... or, I'm supposed to be.

Yes, you probably would be sent to the afterlife... so I guess there's no need for you to consider the letter in the first place.

I agree that it's strange and not at all characteristic of our captors, perhaps there is some truth to the letters.

If we are indeed merely an experiment, perhaps the experiment is failing and we need to be sent home to rectify a larger danger caused by abducting us in the first place.

It is not terrible to have hope.

It's not that I think it's impossible that a situation would arise where our removal from Luceti would be beneficial to the Malnosso. It's a contradiction to what we know already that's been written into the letter itself that gives me pause.

Consider. When you arrived, the rest of us had already been here for some time. But back home, you didn't notice any disappearances. In fact you'd seen some of them merely days, hours, or minutes ago.

But the letter claims that our presence back home is being missed while we're here.

I find all of it strange and suspicious. It probably is just a way to get our hopes up and lure us into something worse. I won't deny that the lure of returning home is a powerful one, though.

You have a point. It could be a trap considering all they said in the letter. But none of us really know what goes on while we're gone, besides it's been two years, they could be finished their research.

I doubt that. We don't know how long the research has been going on exactly, but there's no real sign they've made any breakthroughs.

That did give me pause. Not once did any of my friends here ever mention my sudden disappearance during our travels together, not like this.

If it is true, then there is something important I need to do at home that I can't avoid, but...why would we get this help now?

It's tempting to believe it, but there are far too many questions and problems raised.

It's the very act of being here that is breaking our existence apart. ....Looking at it that way, it's rather frightening, and difficult to prove wrong. But I'm more of the mind to agree with you. This is too simple a solution, and too obviously meant to worry us.

What if a claim like that was made with the intent to make us suspicious? It could be made like that to make us doubt the letter and not try to leave, when the letter could actually be telling us the truth about leaving.

I personally don't trust it... but I can't help but think that.

Personally, I feel I can do more good here, than where I come from.

However, I would be more than happy to examine the portal once it is open, and attempt to ascertain it's validity.

Of course, I may need the help of another powerful mage... I don't suppose you would know of any, would you?

I shall be blunt. I believe those responsible for the letter are attempting to lie and scare-monger us into accepting their terms without full knowledge of what they are doing and the consequences. I do not trust the letter and I shall not be making use of the portal.
